This poster drawing competition under the international Translation Day’s Theme “ Translation and Indigenous languages” will be held in two categories, open for students between age of 15 and 25 years of all schools and Higher education institutes.

Who can participate ?

Category (1) - Candidates between the age of 15 and 18 years representing all schools and pirivanas.
Category (11) - Candidates between the age of 18 and 25 years representing all Higher Education Institutes.

Theme :  “Translation and Indigenous languages”

Poster Size : 18” x 11”

Monetary gifts and Certificates will be awarded.

Conditions of Competition : 

  1. Only the students of schools and higher education institutes of Sri Lanka can apply for this competition. No family members of those who are presently employed in Department of Official Languages will be allowed for this competition.
  2. Any type of colours such as water colours, Pastel, Posters paints and oil paint will be allowed.
  3. All candidates are required to fill the below mentioned application form duly, and firmly paste it on the other side of the poster.
  4. All drawings should be the respective presenters’ own and independent creations and they should not have been presented to any such competition before.
  5. Attestation of applicants’ age should be done by the head of the respective institutes, in the case of school applicants by the principal and in the case of students from privana and other higher education institutes, by the (Parivenadhipathi) the principal of the pirivana and by the dean of the relevant institute respectively.
  6. The term “ International Translation Day - Poster Competition - 2019” and the category number should be mentioned on top left hand corner of the envelop enclosing the poster.
  7. Only one poster will be allowed from one applicant.
  8. Posters presented for the competition will not be returned.
  9. Candidates of the victorious posters should agree to give consent to the Department of Official Languages to use their posters for media ,propaganda and educational purposes.
  10. Department of Official Languages will not hold any responsibilities for loss, damage or any delay of the posters presented for the competition.
  11. Posters presented for the competition will be liable to be rejected on the grounds of non adherence to the conditions of competition, incompleteness or any dealy.
  12. Decision of the panel of judges will be final.

  • The closing date of submission is 31.08.2019.
